July was a slow time for shooting but we were very busy doing maintenance.
We replaced the shot-up foam in the rifle range with rubber mats which will lesson our noise and make the shooting bench area cleaner and more durable. I’d like to thank the 13 volunteers who worked so hard on a Sunday for 6 hours to complete this task. Thanks to Dave Munyon, Lee Erickson, John Tesch, Eric Benson, Kevin Benson, Russ Matter, Gerry Hagen, Lonnie Wertz, Ward Gillett, James Padden, Gary Larson and Willie Schacher. They all did an amazing job!
We also replaced the hepa filters in the pistol range in July. This is a once a year task. It involves taking almost 40, 30lb. filters up to the roof and replacing the old ones. Thanks to Ward Gillett, Russ Matter, Gary Larson, Tim Manke and Al Bennefeld.
Thanks also, for all of you who covered for me while I was on vacation. My wife and I had a great time and I came back with my batteries recharged.
In August, we will restart Hunters Safety. We have a class scheduled August 24, 25 and 26. We have really increased the number of classes held this year. Thank you to all our instructors and volunteers who make these classes happen.
We will be working on more projects this fall for the range. I will put up a sign-up sheet about 2 weeks ahead of each project. Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks again to our members, volunteers, and walk-in shooters for all you do for the RRRMC.
